Down to the River to Pray

Rather than add to my effusive comment under the Youtube video, I wish to add here: Katie's Spirit-filled arrangement is just out of this world (not totally, but just right). I noticed that she herself catches the Spirit as she sings and sways here. That is, her singing has what I call a Spirit-pause in it, which makes this whole bit just wow! Anyway, I can see that Spirit-enhanced rhythm and hear that Spirit-drenched voice, especially during the wind-up arrangement.
And then Ellen unwittingly but beautifully sets off a spiritual water baptism of the three sisters!

Down to the River to Pray

The three sisters do a fab job on this one.
Just my style.
I suspect Julz was a major force lurking behind this one, regardless of who proposed it, which was almost certainly Katie.

He thought he could marry the song in his head

Yeah, doesn't work...

Well, I've tried getting the lyrics, but they're nowhere to be found. I've even tried writing them down from the three versions on line, but no luck. All I get is partial lyrics (no surprise there, as I have ear problems).

Still, I wonder if this song would fetch more listeners if it were re-done with clearer vocals. This number has plenty of potential and shouldn't be gathering dust. The old equipment doesn't do Ellen justice.

I'm thinking of "Long Black Veil." If we could get those J&B lyrics easier to follow, you might have a real earner.

Now we know Ellen can sing lyrics that are clear as a bell; she does it all the time. So there must be a way to tweak these J&B lyrics/vocals. Maybe a small decrease in tempo...

Who wrote this ballad? If it was Ellen, she should write some more ballad lyrics.
