Sherwood. Sure good

Katie Petersen gives us what looks to be a very nice tease from her new solo album.

Sherwood is, I am quite certain, an original number for that album, which is at present idling at the on-ramp.

With Sherwood, this very talented young singer leans heavily into the Pop area, while still retaining a strong flavor of Traditional Country -- which makes sense, as the album was produced in Nashville. The theme is a girl in love, styled with a classic Nashville hook.

But it's Katie's personality and voice that make this a fine piece. Tho she is an expert arranger and skilled composer, it's those personal qualities that make her singing so transformative. Katie is also a terrific fiddler, tho on this cut she seems to be backed up by studio instrumentalists.

But, as far as I know, the album is still in the wings, as are the other cuts from it. In fact, this Katie video slid onto Youtube with no fanfare. Not sure why... but there is no avoiding fanfare when it comes to the doings of Katie and her interesting Bluegrass band, the Petersens.

Still, this isn't Bluegrass, nor is it from a Petersens album. It is part of the initial solo flight of a young artist, following on the heels of Katie's younger sister Julianne , who just released a solo album, Beatrice. We might guess the name of Katie's album, but as she is holding her cards close to the vest, the best course is to wait and see.

Single available on Apple and Amazon Music.

Here is what the Youtube site says,

German media interview, plus performance

From Beate Schmidtke

Included is a very fine version of Katie's California, performed in the German media studio.
Katie looks super-fab.
Followed by Julianne leading on No Roots. Very nice.
We get a close-up of Julianne's face scar, a result of an encounter with a hit-run accident. Doesn't detract from her beauty at all.

Much of the concert.
Good pluckin', pickin,' slidin' and fiddlin.'
Wow. Katie looks like she's having a really good time in Cologne. She's absolutely gorgeous!
And then there's Julz: Stunning.

The Petersens in Köln. 25.08.2023

From Beate Schmidtke

A medley.
Clear that they're really doing well.
I hear a new number that I haven't heard before. Like to hear the whole thing. Maybe Friday...?
Gosh, the Ring Song is back. Cool!
More singalong on Country Roads...
All in all, a very nice video.

These shots seem to be of Ellen early in her pregnancy. Pregnancy really becomes her. It's true. There are a few other photos around that show how good she looks as a mom-to-be.

Lyrics for Julianne's Beatrice album

The lyrics for Julianne's album Beatrice are taken from transcripts of videos on her channel. These were generated by VideoHighlight.com. Inaccuracies are inevitable. The machine determined the line breaks.
I'm Learning How to Swallow Pills
I'm learning how to swallow pills the chicken time I'll be half of who I am
today so my mom can sleep at night I on a Tuesday morning it trips straight
into my head I brought it into everything swamped the
stairs so I could swim into bed so I'm learning how to swallow pills there's a leak no one can find
they'll patch me up with pipe work I hope to join my friends outside
my books and my clothes all grow moldy even the ceiling fan started to droop
mom knocked sweet dreams but the rain in me became a pole inside of my mouth what do you do with the body that's been flooding the floors of the house the door stays locked forever [Music] [Applause]

To the Lighthouse
waiting a while it's dark at the bus stop winking arms to strangers and streets
[Music] man all of your silence make sense to me oh
[Music] I'll give you my code my cash in my Chapstick
write you a note with nothing to say secrets we share saying good night at the end of the day
I understand you'll make new plans but for now we
have each other When Love Comes to take your breath I'll store my name
to give to you grow pink with you together apart please
making you tea with two creams and sugar hanging your drawings upon the fridge
singer Beauty in mine right besided isn't it funny I'm glad you exist
I understand you'll make new plans but for now we
have each other love comes to take your breath a storm to give to you grow pink with you
together or apart

thank you Cody

Silly Girls
waiting a while it's dark at the bus stop winking arms to strangers and streets

Online Man Discovers His Salvific Vision of Beatrice
[Music] freaking lonely bedroom when she's not there and speak his mind make the keyboards player
mother mother only a woman could understand worship a picture of his Beatrice Chris
will put a good word in the comments closing on him in the trenches no one else has the guts to be so honest
she's alone but he's a soldier he's a prophet with a plan with his Beatrice to gaze upon he can
fight off any thread
[Music] moves are coming to cunning in the dark woods
[Music] Beatrice Burns her innocence this guide
is towards his martyr [Music] and writing on the entrance once
but not even hell's blue fire burns beneath the Weeping girl [Applause]
please hmm [Applause]

Perfect Thursdays
[Music] Victoria station of families rushed to catch their train her husband waits for her as she's digging through her things
and if I misplace my ticket her head bad luck with the machine would you be late to your appointment if it meant sitting next to me
on a perfect Thursday you'd wait for me on a perfect Thursday [Music]
just a perfect Thursday [Music] our future kids would all wear glasses
too big to fit their faces we'd pour songs into their Nostalgia and fill their heads with ancient myths if they had a dream outside your vision would
you paint their every scheme or would you stare until they hear just how ridiculous they've been
love you now about forever you love me now what about forever
I sit on the couch and move to the ground they're in their beds when they call your name European is busy on some paperwork that's never learned to wait
they'd be Bound to You Through Blood and home and promises you make I'm bound to you through all these perfect Thursdays
the love that I accept today will be written on their genes I hear their little laughter as the train leaves
oh I love you now what about forever
the trains are leaving now I hear their little laughter
[Music] [Applause]

Mom and Dad
I'm a little bit scared, but I'm still afraid. I'm a little scared, but I'm still afraid. I'm a little scared, but I'm still afraid.
Mom and dad fell into a rhythm last spring. It took a fall of getting used to a winter without me.
And it takes a couple hours now to drive from home to home. Takes just a second longer now to find where everything belongs.
Dad's clinging onto his camera, mother to stories and lions. I'm holding on to how small I am, we're all holding on to time.
There's a guest in my childhood bedroom, the clothes and the clothes that still fit. And dad doesn't run, all his miles anymore, mom walks with the scuffed her step.
I'm clinging onto my camera onto words that she left between lines. And my sibling's old onto how small I am, when the tape's back one last time.
All play be an omen basements, all so the cross wouldn't end. Until everything's moving a little too fast, for steps I just can't get enough.
I'm clinging onto my camera, mother to stories and lions.
Everyone fell into the rhythm last spring.

What a Lovely End, What a Lovely Life
It's the empty piece after a headache, a stillness deep enough to crawl inside.
You pull on the cold as you're walking home and to the last thing on your mind.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, what a lovely end, what a lovely life.

Thank you.

May Baby
my eyes come to the Midwest road signs on a highway in the woods you're driving slow here but the car
seems to fly I think it understood that you're up maybe maybe on my mind
and base too many months you say baby it's fine don't you think it's funny cruel got so high off the way the time
flew now I can't go back to the future with you lights [Music]
pull the traffic close it's getting later start to tell me of poets all the Mysteries you've known
and when I look out the window I can see us through the trees when I look out the window I swear you look at me
[Music] three fine don't you think it's fun and cool you first kissed me goodbyes if you
knew I can't go back to the future with you slow down please I can see the small
town lights flowing through the trees cause this what you meant when you swear you measured time that you'd rather hit
and run and sing it find
[Music]
I was just here maybe just a baby on your mind it makes too many months to make any other fun don't you think it's
funny and cruel [Music] prove them right down to the letter
and I just thought I was worth more to you spread through lemon stitches pass through
whenever I look out the window I still see us through the trees behind every Midwest Road sign taking you away from me

thank you

You can't go wrong with Jesus

You can't go wrong with Jesus,
You'll do all right with Jesus.

The devil is what you get
when you get God wrong.

So get God right
and get Jesus

You can't go wrong with Jesus,
You'll do all right with Jesus.

You'll be so glad
You'll be so glad
No more sad
You'll be so glad

You can't go wrong with Jesus,
You'll do all right with Jesus.

Bluezark Mountain Melody

Darn. I wish I had the ability to come up with a melody or some chords or something for this.
Oh Oh, Oh No
I've got a bad case of the bluezarks

Oh No, Oh Woe
I have really caught the bluezarks

Thought I was OK
when my baby went away
way down in the Ozarks

But Oh Oh, Oh No
I've caught a bad case of the bluezarks

I've got to get gone
got to make a run
to get me out of the  Ozarks

It's Oh No, Oh Woe
I can really feel them bluezarks

Thought I'd heal up fast
but Im really downcast
way down in the Ozarks

Oh Oh, Oh No
I'm lost down here in the Bluezarks

Where do you wander?

O how I do wonder
where do you wander

O how sad I am
that with her you took off
O how bad I feel
that with her you fled north

O how I do wonder
where do you wander

You hit me with a clap
of terrible thunder
when you decided
to tear us asunder

My whole life went up
in a column of smoke
All our grand plans
now I have to choke

Living your life
without me how I hate
Don't you remember
our first loving date?

O how I do wonder
where do you wander
[repeat refrain as desired]

Not sure how helpful this list might be.  If you need a melody, or lyrics, or need to promote your work, one or more of these sites may offer something.

Renewing an old acquaintance: Doc Watson

These sound like the original lyrics with other versions sounding as though they've been cleaned up. But who knows?

  • Ellen's chat is music to the ears
Ellen, 30 is not old! Anyway, I was glad to hear you fill in so much background. I always love to hear you talk, even if for only a minute ...
  • Marvelous vigor and joy
The instrumentalism is impressive. Without intending any disrespect whatsoever, Ellen's vocals on this number have improved greatly wit...

What's up with this "blog"?

This "blog" is meant more as a message board than a blog. I post many quickie ideas for a few people to take or leave. Other random viewers may be perplexed that so many posts are taken down after only hours or days. Well, the stuff isn't meant for anything more than a quick heads up, or a "that's real cool," or a "what about this (probably zany) idea?" I also post all kinds of music videos -- just 'cauz. This way, I needn't fill up certain inboxes with a bunch of unsolicited stuff. In any case, great words of wisdom are definitely not what this message board is about.
You may wish to track additions and changes with a service such as Page Monitor or PageProbe.
